Philosophy on Teaching Art
Art making processes nurture creative thinking and decision making. Students will learn about art materials, techniques, elements and principles of design, and history through exploration, experimentation and trial and error. Younger students may need a little more structure and direction, but as they move into third grade and beyond, they will be given more freedom of choice. Students will be guided as they explore and create, but will not be told that there is only one correct way to do something. There are no mistakes or failures. When we try something and it does not work out as we expected, we have just learned something new and can take that knowledge on to the next process.
